Introducing the Association

By Tamara Shroll, Chair

A neighborhood association is a group of residents who meet regularly to accomplish goals in their neighborhood.

Neighborhood associations help represent neighborhood residents to elected officials, identify problems and challenges in the neighborhood, support change and improvement efforts, help resolve conflicts, provide volunteers for community projects, and find and get resources to make the neighborhood a better place to live.

The Board of the Colter Commons Neighborhood Association would like you to know that your concerns are the foremost reason that the Neighborhood Association exists. The association was formed by a group of residents that care about the safety, value and sense of community within our neighborhood.

The purpose of this website is to familiarize you with the goals of the Association and give you contact information for the Board members.

Individual residents can not always commit the time and energy it would take to deal with a typical neighborhood problem on their own; that is the reason we have formed an Association. The Neighborhood Association serves as a collective voice to solve problems specific to our area. By joining together, we can make a bigger difference than as individuals.

It is important to note that you should not confuse this Association with other types of Associations that ask for membership dues or maintenance fees. Our Association is a volunteer-based organization of residents with common goals. The only requirement to participate is to be a resident or business owner within our boundaries (Camelback to Missouri, 7th Street to 12th Street).

We’re ready to hear your ideas and concerns. We will be scheduling quarterly general membership meetings for residents to gather and hear the activities that have been undertaken by the Board and committees. We will be encouraging you to share your concerns at these meetings.
